Litigation Counsel $90,002 - $115,203 minimum starting pay Job Level: Manager Shelter maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in geographic location, education, training, skills, relevant work experience, business needs and market demands. Please remember that this range is the starting base pay only and does not consider other components that make up the total rewards package for the position. What You Will Be Doing: Manage and direct claims litigation activities and case strategy for designated Shelter states; direct Managers and Supervisors in claims handling, investigation, and communication on complex, high-exposure, and other critical field claims; Manage, supervise, hire, fire, monitor, and evaluate performance of outside attorneys; Direct and train claims-handling activities as impacted by state law for assigned Shelter claims field units; Establish, train, and direct overall claims-handling protocol consistent with state law; Research law to explain impact on claims handling, claims procedures, other Shelter departments, and policy changes proposals; counsel other Shelter departments' personnel about various claims, coverage, and legal issues; direct and prepare appropriate training for schools, eLearning, and field employees. Ability to maintain ever-changing schedules, work well with others, and prioritize critical, important, and time-sensitive work. Ability to develop critical relationships with, and respect from, a diverse group including defense attorneys, adjusters, claimants and their attorneys, judges, and Shelter management and other departments. Law degree and professional mastery and thorough knowledge of litigation, claims-litigation precedents, legal decisions, insurance law, and policy terms. Trial or legal claims experience, and on the job training to learn insurance contracts, claims procedures and policies, jurisdictions and procedures of various courts, and to develop relationships with branches, area attorneys, and other departments. Requirements
