The Litho Press Feeder position assists the Litho Press Operator with responsibilities, utilizing a large format litho sheet fed automatic machine with a very high level of automation and technology. This role typically includes printing in line with converting operations, with tasks that have substantial complexity and multiple processes, including machine set-ups, operations, calibrating equipment, and measuring tolerances.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment.
  • Three to four years of large format litho printing industry experience.
  • Demonstrated performance and self-motivation to assume greater responsibility and work output to achieve results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers, and the ability to convey a positive and professional image of service and support to employees at all levels of responsibility in the Company.
  • Ability to read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedures, manuals and order specifications.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percentages.
  • Ability to read a ruler to 1/16th of an inch.
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Mechanical and spatial aptitude.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy and quality.
  • Enthusiasm, dedication, reliability and punctuality required.
  • Ability to move from task/assignment to another on short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Works from most complex verbal or written process/production specifications, instructions, diagrams or models of higher-level technical personnel.
  • Responsible for the output and condition of litho press.
  • Effectively set-up, run, and trouble shoot litho press, demonstrating a pro-active approach in identifying and resolving issues.
  • Follows safe operating procedures and all safety rules and guidelines.
  • Selects, installs, sets, positions and aligns stops, guides, dies, rolls, and blades as indicated by scale, rule or template of order specifications.
  • Adjusts tension controls according to size, thickness and number of litho sheets.
  • Selects printing plates or dies, fills ink wells with the required color and adjusts ink flow as required.
  • Stacks and feeds litho material.
  • Observes machine operation to detect product defects or machine malfunctions.
  • Measures product dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and performs quality inspection of finished product.
  • Removes cut pieces from product, die or bed of machine.
  • Counts, stacks, marks, bands and transports finished product to the proper area as directed.
  • Performs a wide variety of jobs within plant operations as needed.
  • Participates in routine testing or inspection activities as part of assembly or production process.
  • Completes work orders and load tags in legible print.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as cleaning and oiling of machines, dies or product.
  • Evaluates area operations and recommends improvements.
  • Participates in area meetings.
  • Performs inventory transactions.
  • Learning to operate the machine as necessary.
  • Performs a variety of miscellaneous job-related tasks as may be assigned from time-to-time by a Management Representative.
