About The Position

The Literacy Content Specialist advances CSCOE's mission by leading, designing, and refining literacy-based professional learning initiatives for Catholic schools. This position will oversee CSCOE's current suite of literacy programming, coach and train CSCOE literacy coaches, support school-based implementation, and lead the research and development of new CSCOE-owned literacy resources grounded in the Science of Reading and Catholic educational values. To make the organization scalable to a national level, all roles within CSCOE must heavily leverage advanced technology, especially AI, to do much more for far less in the shortest amount of time possible.

Requirements

  • A master's degree in education, literacy, curriculum design or related field.
  • Extensive classroom experience, including literacy instruction in elementary or middle grades.
  • Proven experience as a coach, instructional leader, or professional development facilitator.
  • Deep knowledge of the Science of Reading, structured literacy, and Catholic education.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse communities.
  • Be an entrepreneur, with the proven ability to 'think outside the box' in developing unique and innovative approaches to challenging issues and situations.
  • Be passionate about CSCOE's mission of serving Catholic school principals and teachers in achieving excellence in their schools.
  • Have a strong work ethic and set an appropriate example for team members to emulate.
  • Demonstrate the highest ethical and moral standards in personal and business conduct.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and evolve CSCOE's current literacy programming (e.g., Believe and Read, LETRS-supported initiatives).
  • Provide training, mentoring, and on-the-ground coaching for CSCOE's network of literacy coaches.
  • Build scalable programs to enhance schools' academic excellence which advances CSCOE's National Roll-out initiative.
  • Lead and manage the development/implementation of AI-infused literacy programming to increase student proficiency.
  • Leverage technology to a high degree, including but not limited to expertise in engineering AI prompts for maximum productivity and impact.
  • Model best practices in classroom instruction and adult learning.
  • Offer direct literacy coaching and training support to schools to strengthen Tier 1 core instruction and Tier 2 interventions.
  • Customize coaching to fit school culture, teacher needs, and student outcomes.
  • Lead research, development, and piloting of new CSCOE-designed professional learning programs in literacy.
  • Use student data, teacher feedback, and current educational research to inform continuous improvement.
  • Ensure all programming aligns with current literacy research, best instructional practices and CSCOE's strategic vision.
  • Ensure all literacy materials and training uphold and reflect Catholic identity and values.
  • Partner with CSCOE team members to integrate literacy initiatives into broader organizational efforts.
  • Serve as a key liaison between CSCOE and schools, external literacy partners, and vendors.
  • Strengthen professional learning communities across schools by building teacher networks and content leadership capacity.
  • Track, evaluate, and report on literacy program performance and impact.
  • Manage resources and coordinate logistics for professional development events and school coaching visits.
  • Create presentations, reports, and communication materials for stakeholders and leadership.
