Our Lab and Information Technology teams play a key role in delivering high-performing, reliable, and secure systems that enable excellent patient care across Union Health. The LIS Administrator is the primary expert overseeing our Laboratory Information Systems. You would ensure all lab applications function reliably, efficiently, and meet regulatory standards. Essential & valuable skills gained (in this unit or in this department): Expertise in laboratory information systems (LIS) management, including troubleshooting, upgrades, and regulatory compliance. Skills in workflow analysis, process improvement, and technology optimization in a clinical environment. Experience collaborating across Laboratory, IT, and hospital departments to enhance efficiency and quality. Leadership skills in system governance, strategic planning, and technology-driven decision support. Proficiency in training staff on LIS, EHR, and related applications. (Unit / Dept.) Successfully supports both clinical and anatomic pathology operations along with reference laboratory integrations. Plays a key role in advancing laboratory technology strategy and implementing innovative solutions that support patient care and operational excellence. (Unit / Dept.) Training & Onboarding Culture Provides comprehensive, hands-on training for LIS, EHR, and all related software applications. Encourages continuous learning with structured onboarding, mentorship, and ongoing staff development. Prioritizes collaboration with Laboratory Leadership, IT teams, and new employees to ensure smooth adoption of systems and workflows. Maintains a supportive environment where new hires receive clear guidance, documentation, and the resources needed to succeed. Essential Job Duties: Troubleshoot LIS issues, manage system upgrades, and ensure regulatory compliance across clinical, anatomic, and reference lab systems. Monitor systems status, interfaces, errors, and messages; document maintenance activities for compliance. Develop policies, guidelines, metrics, and templates that support laboratory quality and efficiency. Lead implementation, operation, and maintenance of laboratory applications. Collaborate with Laboratory teams and IT to support technology improvements and strategic initiatives. Serve as the primary liaison to IT and the lead trainer for LIS/EHR systems. Manage daily operations of lab applications and oversee components of software life cycle including design, testing, change management, and communication. Participate in departmental and technology-related meetings and projects. Assist with capital and asset management oversight.
