About The Position

The Liquor Stock Clerk position at the Idaho State Liquor Division involves receiving, storing, stocking, and selling packaged liquor in a state liquor store. This part-time role requires customer interaction, cash handling, and maintaining store operations, while ensuring compliance with age restrictions for liquor sales.

Requirements

  • Must be 19 years of age to sell liquor per Idaho Code.
  • Experience adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing whole numbers and decimals.
  • Ability to read instructions written in English.

Responsibilities

  • Greet customers and answer questions regarding product content, use, and price.
  • Check identification for proof-of-age and deny service to underage or intoxicated customers.
  • Receive payments by cash, check, or credit card and make change.
  • Receive and verify licensed-bar orders.
  • Operate computerized cash register system to process sales data.
  • Close out cash register and balance receipts to sales journal.
  • Receive and verify shipments and inspect for freight damages.
  • Determine stocking needs, code merchandise, and arrange shelf and floor displays.
  • Act for manager during absences and maintain store security.
  • Open and close store, balancing daily receipts with sales reports and making bank deposits.
  • Reconcile discrepancies and enter merchandise data into the computer system.
  • Supervise work and train other clerks as needed.
  • Recommend product merchandising, inventory levels, and new product listings.
  • Prepare sales summary reports and perform routine cleaning and maintenance of store areas.
