About The Position

The Linux & Windows Systems Administrator is responsible for installing, configuring, monitoring, and maintaining both Linux and Windows servers in a virtual environment. The Systems Administrator independently troubleshoots and resolves system issues, such as server performance degradation, by analyzing system logs and applying appropriate patches or updates.

Requirements

  • BA, or relevant education or experience
  • Intel-based systems administration experience, including both Linux and Windows Server.
  • Experience with Intel-based hardware standalone and virtual systems.
  • Experience with RHEL (Red Hat Enterprise Linux) and Windows Server installation, configuration, upgrades, security, and file system management.
  • Experience with Linux/Windows utilities and scripts.
  • Experience with either VMWare ESX or Nutanix.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell (for Windows automation and scripting) and Python (for cross-platform automation and scripting).
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop effective and efficient configurations for both Linux and Windows Server environments.
  • Develop, document, and implement policies, standards, and operating procedures for cross-platform system administration.
  • Participate in disaster recovery plans for both Linux and Windows systems.
  • Configure scheduled jobs on Windows Server platform for business process automation scripts
  • Interact with systems staff or vendors in testing, operational support, and troubleshooting system problems on both Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Provide architectural guidance on standards and procedures for the efficient use of resources across both environments.
  • Provide operational support for existing scheduled jobs on Windows Server platform.
  • Perform hardware and software installs, patch installations, upgrades, and maintenance.
  • Ensure the completion of daily administrative tasks (e.g. provisioning, onboarding)
  • Lead regularly scheduled preventative maintenance (e.g. system, apply fixes)
