The Force Projection Sector (FPS) in the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory is seeking a Linux System Administrator to support several fast paced and dynamic classified information systems. This position is an opportunity to be part of an experienced Linux team in an IT group that provides end to end support for multiple classified systems that host many unique and interesting classified technologies and services that support dozens of programs with thousands of users. As a FPS Linux System Administrator your activities will include… Administering Linux systems connected to medium to large WANs and LANs that support systems engineering, software development, and High Performance Computing, as well as data processing from critical, high-visibility sponsor programs. Identifying, procuring, building, deploying, maintaining, administering and supporting Linux systems, clusters, and related equipment. Performing security related operations like antivirus updates and scans, patching applications and operating systems, applying STIGs and meeting other security requirements. Working with your group’s ISSOs, Windows, Network, Storage System Administrators, and other technical people to ensure the availability and functionally of classified resources. Participating in DCSA, sponsor, and internal security audits and evaluations. Generating documentation related to system configurations and maintenance and security processes.
