About The Position

Linux Systems Administrator (Mid-Level or Senior) Company: The Boeing Company The Boeing Company’s Specialized Infrastructure Operations Organization is currently seeking a Linux Systems Administrator (Mid-Level or Senior) to join the team in Berkeley, MO. This position will install, operate, secure, and maintain dedicated Program Information Technology infrastructure required to deliver products and services to our customers. The selected candidate will lead advanced Linux systems administration activities, support enterprise infrastructure initiatives, and ensure secure, reliable, and scalable platform operations across program environments.

Requirements

  • Ability to obtain access to Special Access Programs (SAP)
  • Active Security+ certification or the ability to obtain the certification within 6 months of your start date
  • 3+ years of experience with Linux Systems Administration
  • 3+ years of experience with development and administration in Linux systems in virtualized environments (OracleOS and/or RHEL)
  • 3+ years of experience in scripting and programming (bash shell, PERL, etc.)
  • 1+ years of experience in performing system administration tasks on Windows and Linux hosts including installing security patches and making configuration changes to support security requirements
  • 1+ years of experience in root cause analysis and corrective action

  • 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of Linux systems administration, including scripting and automation
  • Analyze computing and infrastructure requirements
  • Lead installation, configuration, patching, and maintenance of Linux server environments
  • Support RHEL 7/8/9 and Oracle Linux
  • Lead system hardening and security compliance initiatives
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis
  • Restore routine to highly complex computing service operations
  • Support enterprise releases and production readiness reviews
  • Develop and maintain Bash and Python automation scripts
  • Create and manage Ansible automation playbooks
  • Support storage, NFS, and file system integrations
  • Support virtualization environments (VMware/KVM)
  • Support containerized Linux workloads using Docker or Podman
  • Integrate enterprise security solutions including Splunk, endpoint protection, and audit tooling
  • Lead break/fix activities and long-term infrastructure improvement projects
  • Define operational standards, workflows, and technology stack best practices
  • Support GRUB configuration and recovery operations
  • Support Kickstart/automated Linux build deployments
  • Work with cross-functional teams to improve infrastructure reliability and service delivery
