About The Position

HII’s Mission Technologies Division is seeking a Linux Systems Administrator Lead to support a Modeling, Simulation, and Training team at the Joint Integrated Test and Training Center – Nellis (JITTC-N), Nellis, AFB, NV. The individual’s primary responsibility would be leading a team of System Administrators that provide Linux System support to a team of engineers, Subject Matter Experts, and Pilots.

Requirements

  • 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 13 years relevant experience.
  • Eligible candidates must have management and/or mentoring experience.
  • Must have experience with LINUX system administration.
  • Must be capable of working morning and evening shifts to accommodate flexible schedule training operations.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD TS/SCI and relevant SAP/SAR Clearance.
  • Candidates must have had an active Top Secret clearance within the last 24 months.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications: Linux+ and Security+
  • Experience in Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) preferably as a System Administrator.
  • Preferred experience would be maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems.
  • Prefer candidates with an active TS/SCI clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain continuous operation of multi-user Linux computer systems to ensure team can effectively support the mission.
  • Daily managing team of System Administrators including mentorship and expert knowledge when needed by junior System Administrators.
  • Setting up administrator and service accounts.
  • Installing system wide software and allocate mass storage space.
  • Performing configuration and troubleshooting of systems which may be desktop and/or server based.
  • Optimizing system operation and resource utilization and performs system capacity analysis and planning.
  • Aiding users in accessing and using systems.
  • Developing and monitoring policies and standards for allocation related to the use of computing resources.
  • Maintaining security updates of operating system and software.
  • Maintaining system documentation.
  • Evaluating vendor products to inform mission partner of decisions.
