About The Position

Zachary Piper Solutions is seeking a System Engineer (Linux/Storage) to support a classified geospatial intelligence program in Rancho Bernardo, CA. The team is seeking an individual with advanced capabilities across software, hardware, server, storage, and virtual technologies to support cross functional teams for a critical modernization program. Clearance: Active Top Secret required, TS/SCI preferred Location: Rancho Bernardo, CA (100% on-site, 9/80 schedule) This job opens for applications on 11/13/2025. Requirements

  • Top Secret Clearance minimum, TS/SCI preferred
  • 7+ years of prior relevant RHEL and server administration experience
  • 3+ years of experience supporting storage technologies (NetApp, HPE, Pure Storage, Powerstore)
  • IAT II certification (Sec+, CYSA+, etc.)
  • Extensive knowledge of multiple specialties including operating systems, storage technologies, and peripherals.
  • Proficient in Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating systems administration (3+ years).
  • Input/output redirections, creating hard and soft links, bootloader, managing access to root account, configure firewall settings, RAM or storage of VMs, manage filesystems ACLs, etc.)
  • DevOps/DevSecOps experience and familiarity of concepts (CICD, continuous deployment, automation, Ansible, Terraform)
  • Experience with Netbackup administration and NetApp Cluster administration
  • Experience administering servers in AWS (EC2, S3, EFS storage)
  • Experienced in integrating Linux with Windows Active Directory.
  • Familiar with VMWare and virtualization concepts.
  • Skilled in Shell, Perl, and/or PowerCLI/PowerShell scripting.
  • Solid understanding of protocols such as DNS and LDAP.
  • Experience with operating system update services such as YUM or DNF and RedHat Satellite.
  • Knowledgeable in technologies including Ansible modules and configuration management with Git

Responsibilities

  • Actively maintain and develop all infrastructure technology to ensure necessary uptime service.
  • Engineer systems administration-related solutions for various operational and project needs.
  • Maintain best practices for managing systems and services across all managed environments.
  • Identify, analyze, and log performance issues for reporting and resolving exceptions.
  • Manage, coordinate, and implement software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes on servers, workstations, storage, and network hardware.
  • Create and modify scripts or applications to perform tasks.
  • Provide input to improve the stability, security, efficiency, and scalability of the environment.
  • Monitor system performance and plan for capacity proactively.
  • Collaborate with other teams and members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes.
