About The Position

Link Solutions is seeking a Linux System Administrator (Senior-Level) to join our team at Adelphi, MD. Must be a U.S. Citizen Secret Clearance required Non-remote (relocation incentive available) Our Linux System Administrator (Senior-Level) will be responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and security of Windows-based workstations and services in compliance with DoD and ARL IT policies at the Army Research Laboratory in Adelphi, MD. Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain an active Secret Clearance.
  • Must have a BA/BS in computer sciences or information technology with two (5+) years of experience or an AA with seven (7+) years of relevant experience working in an IT or Service Desk environment.
  • IAT Level II Certification equivalent or higher per DoD 8570/DoD 8140 (CompTIA Security+ CE, CCNA Security, GICSP, GSEC, SSCP, etc.).
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) Certification.
  • Ability to work with customers to develop new value-added programs and data solutions with existing structures and new requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) v4 certification
  • Experience with incident management within the ServiceNow Information Technology Service Management (ITSM) platform.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience creating and modifying documentation for technical processes and procedures.
  • Experience working in a Department of Defense (DoD) environment.
  • A problem solver and troubleshooter who thrives in resolving complex problems.
  • Strong self-starter requiring minimal supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and manage RHEL systems and Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization environments.
  • Administer KVM virtualization, Puppet automation, and kernel-level tuning.
  • Implement system patching, STIG compliance, and release/version control.
  • Monitor performance, handle incident response, and ensure uptime and data integrity.
  • Automate tasks using shell scripting, Ansible, or equivalent configuration management tools.
  • Maintain backup and recovery solutions and ensure disaster recovery readiness.
  • Conduct system audits and enforce DoD security requirements.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive configuration documentation.
