About The Position

STC is a science and engineering research and services support company with proven expertise and experience spanning research, development, test, and evaluation in areas including aerospace engineering, earth and atmospheric sciences, chemical and biological defense, military systems and technology, and software development. The position is for a Linux System Administrator I, located in Hanover, NH, and is a full-time, exempt role. The successful candidate will participate in the maintenance and upgrade of computer and network systems supporting US Army Corps of Engineers application requirements, working closely with a senior systems administrator.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in computer information systems or related field.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance.
  • 3 years' experience in Linux systems administration, network administration, or similar role.
  • 1 year experience in Windows systems administration.
  • Experience with servers, network switches and routers, and VMWare.
  • Experience supporting relational database requirements.
  • Familiarity with AWS services and tools.
  • Experience with helpdesk operations for Windows and Apple, system security, and data protection.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and the ability to multitask, prioritize, and complete work within schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with establishing virtual servers.
  • Certifications in CompTIA Security+ and A+.
  • Active DoD Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the maintenance and upgrade of computer and network systems supporting US Army Corps of Engineers application requirements.
  • Work closely with a senior systems administrator to support developers and users creating or using software applications.
  • Support the migration of applications and data to cloud-based systems.
  • Responsible for the maintenance, configuration, and reliable operation of Linux and Windows computer systems, network servers, and cloud services.
  • Install and upgrade computer components and software and manage virtual servers.
  • Ensure system software is current, complying with IT Security requirements.
  • Troubleshoot hardware/software errors with diagnostics, document and prioritize problems, assess impact, and assist with resolution.
  • Assist with regular backup operations and implement data protection and disaster recovery protocols.
  • Participate in desktop and helpdesk support efforts.
  • Support cloud services requirements.
