As a Linux Engineer - System Administrator at Comcast, you will be an integral part of our Technology, Product, Experience (TPX) organization, which operates at the intersection of media and technology. This role is focused on managing and maintaining our Linux infrastructure, primarily utilizing Rocky Linux 8+. You will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, security, and reliability of our servers, while upholding Comcast's cybersecurity standards. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency of our system operations and the overall customer experience. In this position, you will collaborate with various cross-functional project teams, applying your engineering skills and methodology to solve complex problems. You will be expected to maintain and update the video delivery Server (VDE) build process documentation, ensuring that operations can consistently build and deploy VDEs in the field. Additionally, you will provide ongoing support for VDEs, addressing any technical issues that arise and ensuring optimal performance. Your responsibilities will include installing, configuring, and maintaining Linux systems, managing user accounts and permissions, monitoring system performance, and troubleshooting issues. You will also be tasked with automating routine tasks using scripting languages and tools, implementing security measures to protect against unauthorized access, and staying up to date with the latest security updates and patch management procedures. Documentation of system configurations and procedures will be essential, as will collaboration with other IT professionals to ensure seamless system integration and support.
