About The Position

The Linux Administrator provides infrastructure support for ServiceNow MID servers, application nodes, RDS instances, and supporting systems within a self-hosted network enclave. This role combines Linux system administration with cloud infrastructure expertise to ensure reliable platform operations, particularly for Discovery, and any future integrations.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 5+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree plus 3 years of job-related experience.
  • 3+ years Linux system administration experience in enterprise environments
  • 2+ years hands-on AWS experience including EC2, RDS, VPC, IAM, and CloudWatch
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible)
  • Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or similar languages
  • Understanding of secure cloud architectures and compliance frameworks (FedRAMP, FISMA)
  • Active security clearance or ability to re-qualify immediately
  • Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Agile experience preferred
  • Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA) or equivalent Linux certification preferred
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect or SysOps Administrator certification strongly preferred
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain ServiceNow MID servers on Linux platforms for future Discovery and integration operations
  • Manage Linux server infrastructure including Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Ubuntu systems supporting ServiceNow
  • Configure and maintain AWS infrastructure components including EC2 instances, RDS databases, VPCs, security groups, and networking for cloud-based ServiceNow resources
  • Implement system hardening, patching, and security configurations aligned with federal security baselines (STIGs, CIS benchmarks)
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and availability; troubleshoot Linux-level issues affecting ServiceNow operations
  • Automate deployment and configuration management using tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or CloudFormation
  • Manage backup and disaster recovery procedures for MID servers and supporting infrastructure components
  • Coordinate with network and security teams on firewall rules, routing, and connectivity requirements across enclaves
  • Maintain system documentation including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and configuration management databases
