About The Position

How You’ll Help Transform Healthcare: Shift Details: 5 am to 1:30 pm including every other weekend and rotating holiday requirements. Heavy pulling/pushing is required and applicant must be able to successfully push/pull linen carts that weigh up to 750 lbs. Successful Candidate will walk 3 to 5 miles per day inside hospital. Some travel may be required for this position. The Linen Technician ensures continuity of patient care by providing patient care textiles and related supplies to departments/practices. The Linen Technician distributes medical textiles products and related supplies through the par level systems. The Linen Technician services practices/departments supply par levels which includes counting, restocking and maintaining the Exam Rooms, Clean Utility Rooms and Treatment Rooms par levels. The Linen Technician maintains bulk inventories of medical textiles and related supply items. Secondary responsibilities include collection of soiled linen and loading and unloading tractor trailers. Works closely with management and other Carilion inventory locations to efficiently operate servicing of medical textiles and related supplies. Utilizes multiple computer systems in the performance of job duties. Updates and maintains computerized records in multiple computer systems. Performs regularly scheduled replenishment of medical textiles and related items items stocked on Practice, Exam Room, clean Utility Room and Treatment Room par levels to ensure sufficient availability at Carilion Roanoke facilities. Fulfills requisitions for inventory items. Accomplishes the timely, accurate, and efficient picking and staging of the requisitions where required. Performs the requisitioning, inspecting, receiving, and stocking of inventory items for maintaining the appropriate par levels. Operates computers, computerized equipment and peripherals in the performance of job duties such as computer terminals, PC workstations, printers, fax machines, and handheld devices. In addition, operates materials handling equipment in the performance of job duties such as pallet jacks, and transport carts. Enters and maintains computerized data such as inventory transactions. Performs computer data transfer processes to accomplish the interfacing of data among the various computer systems. After completing primary responsibilities, performs secondary responsibilities including: refilling scrub machines, delivery of pillows, washing and drying hospital specials, soiled pick ups.

Requirements

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. Post high school vocational or college training preferred.
  • Experience: Experience or familiarity preferred with handling medical textiles and related supplies. Experience desired with inventory requisitioning/stocking and order picking.
  • Other Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to speak, read, and write English. Excellent written and spoken communication skills are required. Must be able to work independently and with minimal/no supervision. Familiarity with computer keyboard and typing; ability to cope effectively with high-pressure situations and with a continually changing work environment. Must be able to get to work without bus service. Must be able to travel to several locations in Roanoke.
