About The Position

Eskenazi Health serves as the public hospital division of the Health & Hospital Corporation of Marion County. Physicians provide a comprehensive range of primary and specialty care services at the 333-bed hospital and outpatient facilities both on and off of the Eskenazi Health downtown campus including at a network of Eskenazi Health Center sites located throughout Indianapolis. The Linen Attendant, under the direct supervision of the Linen Supervisor, is responsible for receiving, storing, issuing and maintaining an inventory of linen supplies.

Requirements

  • Completion of high school or equivalent
  • One year related experience in laundry/linen supply facilities preferred
  • Ability to comprehend and provide accurate inventory data for the "Linen Helper" linen inventory management software system
  • Basic knowledge of computers preferred
  • Knowledge of hospital/institutional laundry or linen supply services
  • Ability to read, write, and use basic mathematics
  • Ability to communicate in tactful/diplomatic manner with a variety of department/hospital personnel, and linen suppliers
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to use age-appropriate communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • One year related experience in laundry/linen supply facilities preferred
  • Basic knowledge of computers preferred

Responsibilities

  • Delivers clean linen to and picks up soiled linen from both inpatient and outpatient departments
  • Receives linen items from UHSSorts, inspects, counts, and records newly laundered items and sets aside for re-laundering or repair those linens which do not meet the established standards
  • Responds to department needs by counting out and assembling linen items into linen exchange carts and delivering the exchange carts to the designated locations
  • Maintain daily par count of linen issued per department for entry into "Linen Helper" par management software program
  • Ensure the prompt and timely collection of soiled lined from hospital areas into loading carts for periodic shipments during each day
  • Assist Supervisor in monitoring departmental stock levels to ensure appropriate supply of linen
  • Notifies Supervisor of any complications relating to inadequate supply levels or poor quality
  • Maintains infection control standards related to handling, transporting and storage of linens
