About The Position

The Line Worker position involves placing, moving, rearranging, replacing, connecting, disconnecting, transferring, maintaining, rerouting, and removing aerial and underground plants, including service drops, house cables, and building terminals. The role requires operating a company vehicle as needed and performing tasks under minimal supervision. The work includes using heavy-duty power equipment and hand tools for the installation and maintenance of outside plant facilities, with a variety of tasks guided by general instructions. The position entails climbing ladders and poles, working at heights, and entering confined spaces to place materials. Responsibilities also include using test equipment, dismantling and moving wires and cables, loading tools and materials onto vehicles, interpreting work orders, and keeping detailed records of work activities. The job requires frequent physical activity, including pushing, pulling, and lifting moderate to heavy weight objects throughout the workday.

Requirements

  • Must meet minimum requirements established by the Company for standard tests.
  • Experience as a Line Worker, OSP Construction Installer/Splicer, or equivalent experience in telecommunications preferred.
  • Valid California class 'C' driver's license required at time of appointment.
  • Ability to obtain a valid California Class 'A' driver's license after appointment.
  • Pass a criminal records screening process.
  • Ability to perceive differences in colors and distinguish audible tones/levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in positions such as Cable Splicer, Communications Specialist, or Fiber Network Field Technician.
  • Previous experience in telecommunications companies.

Responsibilities

  • Place, move, rearrange, replace, connect, disconnect, transfer, maintain, reroute, and remove aerial and underground plants.

  • Attach or detach hardware to wires, cables, buildings, or poles.
  • Use test equipment to check for gas in manholes and remove debris.
  • Dismantle, move, or remove aerial, underground, or building wire and associated equipment.
  • Load tools and materials onto vehicles and drive to work locations.
  • Read and interpret cut sheets and work order prints.
  • Keep detailed written records of work activity.
