About The Position

The Line Technician position at Baldwin EMC involves the construction, operation, and maintenance of electric distribution systems, both overhead and underground. Technicians will be responsible for various tasks including line construction, troubleshooting, and operating specialized equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Technical certification in apprenticeship school.
• Class A CDL license, first aid, and CPR certifications.
• Minimum four (4) years' prior experience.
• Experience operating equipment such as trucks, buckets, derricks, and line equipment.

Responsibilities

• Carry out overhead and underground line construction, operation, and maintenance of electric distribution systems.
• Correct any problems on the system that are potential safety hazards.
• Perform three-phase line construction, framing, pole setting, and wire stringing.
• Perform hot-line work and secondary circuits with little supervision.
• Make common connections on distribution transformer, meter/loops and primary circuits.
• Check voltages and determine proper operation of technical equipment.
• Follow maps and routine instructions in the specification and staking sheet responsibilities.
• Climb poles readily and work satisfactorily on poles in routine construction as supervised.
• Operate digger derrick and bucket truck as assigned.
