About The Position

The Line Supervisor for the Hancock District at Versant Power is responsible for leading and supervising line construction and maintenance activities, meter operations, and ensuring employee safety and development. This role involves planning and coordinating work activities, promoting a supportive work environment, and ensuring compliance with company policies and union contracts. The supervisor will also engage in continuous improvement initiatives and maintain effective communication with management and staff.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in electric power or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of T&D Operations experience required.
  • Strong understanding of the electrical system, NEC codes, and company distribution standards.
  • Experience in preparing and managing capital and O/M budgets.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and ability to learn other software programs.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills required.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the electric power industry is a plus.
  • Knowledge of environmental management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the Line and Meter Operations management team.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in safety, operations, and employee engagement.
  • Communicate regularly with the Line and Meter Operations Manager regarding employee issues and operational needs.
  • Supervise day-to-day operations of line and meter functions, ensuring professional conduct and effective communication.
  • Identify employee strengths and developmental opportunities, motivating them to accept change.
  • Promote a supportive work environment and host safety and staff meetings.
  • Ensure all employees are properly trained to perform jobs safely and efficiently.
  • Enforce compliance with the IBEW Local 1837 union contract and participate in grievance resolution.
  • Assign daily work to line and meter crews based on priorities.
  • Review the quality and quantity of work performed by line crews and meter staff.
  • Ensure compliance with established company work rules and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with other departments and external contractors for coordinated work efforts.
  • Promote excellence in customer service and ensure timely responses to service problems.
  • Complete necessary paperwork associated with daily job duties in a timely manner.
  • Supervise and coordinate storm restoration activities.
  • Work in accordance with environmental procedures and report deviations.
