About The Position

Cobb EMC has an exciting opportunity for a Line Superintendent to supervise line construction, service and maintenance of the Corporation's distribution system. The position involves coordination and operation of line crews, ensuring effective job completion and power outage restoration within designated time frames. The Line Superintendent will also manage the Command Center during outages and oversee the application software used for scheduling jobs for crews. This role requires active participation in training on new electrical equipment and ensuring all personnel are properly instructed on line feed locations and switching devices.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent.
  • Minimum nine years electric utility line construction and maintenance experience, with one year as Line Foreman.
  • Specialized training in live-line work and applied electricity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the principles of basic electricity, safety rules and regulations, RUS specifications, and corporate policies and procedures.
  • Thorough working knowledge of power line installation and maintenance.
  • Thorough knowledge of Georgia Utility Facility Protection Act (GUFPA) regulations and OSHA regulation 1910.269.
  • Knowledge of Georgia's National Pollutions Discharge Erosion Sediment (NPDES) Control.
  • Thorough knowledge of first aid and safety rules and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess valid Class A Commercial Georgia driver's license.
  • Possess valid Georgia Flagging Certification and Cobb County Excavating and Trenching Certification.
  • Possess an Integrated Transmission System (ITS) Operator's Certification.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure effective and efficient coordination and operation of line crews.
  • Monitor contract crews for daily job progress.
  • Oversee application software to schedule jobs for crews.
  • Supervise live-line work and ensure the safety of all crews.
  • Respond to emergency calls when acting as On-Call Supervisor.
  • Direct proper construction, service, and maintenance of the distribution system.
  • Participate in training on the installation and operations of new electrical equipment.
  • Ensure all affected personnel are properly instructed regarding line feed locations.
  • Promptly advise immediate supervisor of the need for new equipment and materials.
  • Research new developments and technology within the electrical utility industry.
  • Assist in the development and coordination with Fiber South as necessary.
  • Address all member inquiries promptly and professionally.
  • Check time sheets and work orders daily for proper time charged.
  • Complete accident and damage reports as required.
  • Prepare meter and transformer records.
  • Verify invoices, meal tickets, and damage reports daily.
  • Submit budget requests annually.
  • Handle all aspects of employment for subordinate staff, including hiring and training.
  • Monitor performance and conduct performance planning and review sessions.
