The Line Servicer performs all types of work involved with the installation, rearrangement, maintenance, operation, removal, and inspection of electrical transmission and distribution facilities, both overhead and underground. This role provides first response to trouble calls, investigates, corrects, and clears trouble, and offers assistance to construction and repair crews as needed. The employee may also perform miscellaneous, related, and incidental work. This position builds upon the skills, abilities, and knowledge acquired as a Line Mechanic A or Lineman A (or equivalent). Key responsibilities include analyzing and taking corrective action on trouble calls, patrolling and inspecting lines, repairing faults, installing and removing transformers, meters, and services, and coordinating complex circuit switching and service restoration. The Line Servicer works with hot line equipment on energized circuits for emergency repairs or routine maintenance and independently interfaces with emergency forces. Effective communication with customers to resolve trouble calls and inform them of issues in their wiring is also required. The role involves operating and maintaining residential, commercial, and industrial facilities, disconnecting and connecting meters, reading meters, and operating line and station switches while requesting and accepting clearances. The Line Servicer may also direct the work of assigned employees.
