Line Maintenance Mechanic B - Berkeley, CA.

  • Perform scheduled predictive and preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair and project support of filling and/or inspection & packaging mechanical equipment.
  • Operate equipment and maintain qualification for executing manufacturing activities in B80 (Inspection & Packaging) and B81 (Sterile Filling Facility) groups in FPM, including line setup, gowning qualification, maintenance checkouts, interventions.
  • Achieve daily maintenance work schedule attainment, data recording and reporting of work orders.
  • Interact with other maintenance crafts to complete multi-craft work orders, including Instrumentation, Electrical, HVAC-R, and Site Mechanics.
  • Assess suitability and accuracy of Mechanical PM Procedures and provide feedback to the document owner.
  • Communicate with all departments to schedule and follow-up on activities.
  • Provide input to the technical system owner related to equipment reliability issues and/or adverse trends.
  • Interact with Plant Engineer to provide problem solving expertise on specific mechanical related issues and problems in support of site systems.
  • Support general tasks for other maintenance crafts, including HVAC/R, Instrumentation, and Electrical.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
  • Requires high school diploma, or GED plus minimum of Three (3) years of mechanical maintenance experience.
  • Completion of technical school / accredited 2-year program AND minimum one (1) year of field experience.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of industrial maintenance experience with a high level of troubleshooting skills.
  • Read, write, speak, and comprehend English to understand written and verbal instructions, SOP's, etc.
  • Follow directions, written or verbal.
  • Acceptable attendance and performance.
  • Work weekends, holidays and overtime as required (including 10-hour shifts as needed).
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Work independently and self-directed with minimal supervision.
  • Detail oriented with the ability to demonstrate good record keeping practices.
  • Thorough understanding of Process Control Systems (PSC), Distributed Control System (DCS), and Building Automation System (BAS).
  • Able to read and understand P&ID diagrams, simple electrical diagrams, operating instructions, and standard operating procedure (SOP).
  • Ability to multitask, troubleshoot, use analytical judgment to plan and perform diversified work, making decisions within prescribed limitations.
  • Ability to work safely in an environment containing hazardous chemicals, high and low temperature liquids, high pressure liquids and gases, steam, and moving machinery.
  • General knowledge of shop tools and safe operation.
  • Computer skills required, use of laptop, tablet, HMI, PLC required, including knowledge of: Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Project, MODA.
  • Ability to operate or learn to operate a forklift, scissor-lift, JLG.
  • Must be able to lift up to ≤50 lbs. and push/pull up to ≤350 lbs. with assistance.
  • Must be able to withstand frequent repetitive movement, stooping, crouching, kneeling, climbing (ladders), and sitting.
  • Must be able to wear protective clothing (PPE) as required.
  • Must be able to work at heights, around moving machinery, and with exposure to noise, vibration, dust, and drafts.
  • Must be able to identify color-coded labels.
  • Must be able to pass an eye exam - includes testing for: near vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Must meet Occupational Demands/Physical Requirement checklist.
  • Proficient knowledge of other trades (Instrumentation, Plumbing, Electrical, HVAC / R) strongly preferred.
  • Experience with SAP strongly preferred.
