Requirements

  • Ability to learn to locate and identify underground electrical utility wires using electrical utility maps and special electronic locator equipment.
  • Possess a valid, up-to-date driver's license.
  • Ability to learn to read blueprints, facility maps, or engineering drawings to assist in locating buried lines.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop and lift for extended periods of time.
  • Demonstrate verbal and written communication skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience using electronic locating equipment to locate and mark underground facilities/utilities, with a minimum of 1 year locating for Tucson Electric Power.
  • Must be willing and able to assist other team members on more technical locates.

Responsibilities

  • Locate and identify underground wires using maps and special electronic locator equipment.
  • Reads blueprints, facility maps, or engineering drawings to assist in locating buried lines.
  • Responds to Arizona811 requests by driving to sites and locating lines.
  • Independently interprets requests from Arizona811.
  • Questions the requestor as needed to obtain complete information.
  • Determines where locates are, thereby ensuring protection of utilities.
  • Provides follow-up as needed.
  • Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers accurately and professionally.
  • Communicates relevant information to excavation personnel or other appropriate authorities.
  • Maintain accurate records of work time and client identities to allow proper assignment of charge codes.
  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • Perform assigned work in a safe and efficient manner in accordance with Company practices and procedures.

Benefits

  • Starting rate of pay for this position is $21.76 per hour, progressing to Step 2 rate of $27.21 after successful completion of training program and satisfactorily passing the Experienced Line Locator Technical Skills exam with an 85% or higher, and thereafter progression of $31.91 after time in grade.
