About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented and safety-conscious Line Locator to join our field operations team. This role is critical to ensuring the safe excavation and maintenance of underground utilities by accurately identifying and marking utility lines. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills, a proactive attitude, and a commitment to public safety and operational efficiency.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certifications in utility locating preferred.
• Prior experience in utility locating, construction, or field services is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with utility maps, GIS systems, and electronic locating equipment.
• Strong understanding of 811 procedures and underground utility safety protocols.
• Ability to work independently in various weather conditions and terrain.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Must meet conditional job offer requirements including background, drug screening, MVR check, and fit for duty/agility test.

Nice To Haves

• technical training or certifications in utility locating preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform 811 One-Call utility location requests within designated service areas.
• Accurately locate and mark underground utility lines, including gas, water, electric, and telecommunications using appropriate tools and equipment.
• Monitor excavation sites to ensure safe digging practices and prevent damage to utility infrastructure.
• Maintain regular communication with the 811 lead regarding problem areas, time management, and field updates.
