Purpose: As a hands-on Packaging Lead, direct an effective and efficient operation of the assigned production line through to finished goods to ensure each phase meets or exceeds customer and regulatory requirements for quality, food safety and plant safety processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • Seven (7) months to one  (1) year experience as a General Laborer
  • Knowledge of GMP’s and Plant Safety
  • Able to operate computer, electronic and label making software and systems
  • Knowledge of proper lifting techniques when handling heavy objects
  • Basic written and effective communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic mathematic applications

Responsibilities

  • Tend to or operate machine that packages product modeling a “Safety First” culture, including, but not limited to:
  • Setting up metal detector
  • Setting up Aesus Labeler and change product labels accordingly
  • Setting up printer for labels
  • Monitor the production line, watching for problems such as pileups, jams, temperature variances, etc.
  • Report and document line activity
  • Observe machine operations to ensure quality and conformity of filled or packaged products to standards
  • Communicate with Quality Control relative to out of spec product or packaging
  • Complete the Standard Quality Form to ensure proper record recordkeeping for USDA, Audits, etc.
  • Inspect and remove defective products and packaging material.
  • Stop or reset machines when malfunctions occur, and report malfunctions to maintenance as necessary for repairs and adjustments.
  • Replenish packaging supplies, such as boxes, or labels.
  • Train and direct production employees for operation of production lines and proper use of GMPs
  • Package the product in the form in which it will be sent out and assist as required to achieve goals
