About The Position

The Packaging Department's purpose is to supply high quality finished cases of product in a safe and efficient manner that meets customer requirements and minimizes costs. The purpose of this position is to provide leadership packaging Line 1, 2, 3, or Bulk as aligned to by the Team Lead, Department Manager, and Other Line Leads to meet the daily operational requirements. This work includes a high level of employee training and development through coaching, being an engage equipment owner, Line Lead Meetings, changeovers, operator activities, working as a team with other Line Leads to determine daily resource allocation, scheduling, a high level of maintenance and troubleshooting skills and ability to coach others those skills, daily reporting in SAP, sending out shift notes, and backing up the shift coordinator as needed. It is the expectation that this job will evolve and grow as the capability of the plant grows and business needs change.

Requirements

  • Ability to coach and train others.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Completion of Level 1 and Level 2 Skill Blocks.
  • Demonstrated leadership.
  • Mechanically capable with skills to perform changeovers and troubleshoot.
  • Using available information, demonstrate the ability to coordinate and prioritize in a manner that is most beneficial for plant operations.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to present issues and influence the site management team.

Responsibilities

  • Drive department improvement initiatives consistent with the plant strategy.
  • Perform troubleshooting and maintenance work for all packaging line equipment on assigned packaging line.
  • Assist on any assigned packaging line projects such as installations, improvement projects, major maintenance and capital projects.
  • Safely changeover and operate line equipment on other packaging lines as assigned.
  • Be proactive in identifying and correcting quality opportunities.
  • Train other packaging employees in their responsibilities and troubleshooting skills.
  • Order all supplies and parts as assigned.
  • Inventory materials and spare parts.
  • Perform any assigned duties that fall within the scope of this job as defined by management.
  • Lead Packaging Department safety effort in support of plant performance goals.
  • Lead timely problem resolution efforts.
