About The Position

Robin's Restaurant located in Cambria, California is looking to hire an experienced and dedicated Line Cook to join our team. Having been on the Central Coast for 37 years, Robin's holds a stellar reputation of delighting guests with fresh, sustainable food and generous hospitality. We are seeking a collaborative individual who is ready and willing to learn, shows initiative, and works well under pressure. If you are a line cook with high volume grill & sauté experience who enjoys making people happy serving great food, this is a job for you! We are currently looking for cooks with Full Time PM shift + Weekends required Summary of Position: Our line cooks will show inspired quality and passion in all their work, and the desire to serve the best every time. They will gladly honor guest special requests. Line cooks will also be cross trained on all stations in order to lend support to other stations if needed. Our line cooks are responsible for preparing food in a timely manner, maintaining Robin's excellent food quality and presentation, minimizing unnecessary food waste, and maintaining high levels of food safety and preparation in accordance with company standards.

Requirements

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks at once
• Strong attention to detail and cleanliness
• Ability to prep and execute service on at least two stations without management supervision
• Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic
• Must be able to communicate clearly with managers, kitchen and service staff
• Must be able to comprehend, read and follow written and verbal direction
• Must have drive and take initiative
• Must have a high level of integrity
• Must be able to work well with a team
• At least 2-3 years of experience as a Line Cook or proven experience of any combination thereof
• Must have or be able to attain a valid California Food Handlers card
• Valid California Sexual Harassment Prevention Certificate
• High level of stamina to work on feet for extended periods (be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time up to 8 hours)
• Must be able to occasionally lift, balance, and move food product and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to perform in a fast paced, busy environment with attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Assumes 100% responsibility for the quality and consistency of the products served
• Understands and complies with our standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, kitchen rules, policies, and procedures
• Set up and stock your station with all necessary ingredients and equipment before each shift
• Prepare and cook the menu items on their station for service in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen team
• Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion
• Assists in food prep assignments during off-peak periods as directed by kitchen management
• Stocks and maintains proper levels of food on line stations to ensure a smooth service
• Portion food products prior to cooking according to portion size standards and recipe specifications
• Maintains a clean and sanitary work station including knives, cutting surfaces, prep and line equipment
• Assist with food inventory management, including receiving, inspecting, and storing ingredients.
• Operate and maintain kitchen equipment, such as grills, ovens, fryers, and slicers, having safety in mind
• Monitor cooking times and temperatures to ensure that food is cooked and presented correctly
• Maintain knowledge of menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and portion sizes
• Follows proper plating and garnish presentations for all dishes
• Handle, store and rotate all products properly
• Assist in the training and mentoring of new team members, as needed
• Opens and/or closes stations properly following station checklists and procedures
• Performs other duties as required or assigned by kitchen management
• Refer to cleaning list when slow
• Always checks with the kitchen manager before leaving shift and clocking out
