About The Position

Stone Creek Coffee is seeking a Line Cook to join our Stone Creek Kitchen Team. As a key member of the Stone Creek Coffee Kitchen Team, you will help bring coffee-centric food choices to our customers. Role Aspects: RUNNING THE LINE – Line Cooks consistently plate all products including new items, and serve all dishes according to our standards. Line Cooks proactively write and complete a prep list for the day that prioritizes the correct items leading to an efficient workflow for the week. CONNECTION AND APPRECIATION -- Line Cooks warmly greet customers upon delivery of food and endeavor to build connections with customers by learning and using names. CLEANLINESS & ORGANIZATION -- A clean and organized work space is of paramount importance for all Kitchen Team Members. Line Cooks complete all daily, weekly and deep cleaning tasks with a great attitude and adhere to all Food Safety guidelines. TEAM SUPPORT -- Line Cooks are great at prioritizing tasks. They offer support to both our Kitchen and Cafe team members, and communicate their needs clearly while offering feedback to others with grace. They’re also able to accept constructive criticism well. WORKS WITH URGENCY AND CARE – Kitchen Team Members address each order immediately, serve all dishes within the expected time and track tickets carefully using proper tracking methods. Line Cooks also call out tickets to keep the rest of the team on trackLine Cook Craft Rubric Running the Line Occasionally serves dishes that are not to company standards. Is not up to date on new menu item platings and processes. Is not able to effectively run all stations on the line. Needs guidance in understanding what needs to be written on the prep list for the day. Does not have enough back ups to get through their shift leading to an inefficient workflow. Is up to date on all new recipes and platings. They are able to effectively run all stations on the line and to serve all dishes according to company standards. Is able to write and complete a prep list for the day that prioritizes the correct items leading to an efficient workflow for the week. Preps, cooks, and plates all dishes with great care and beauty as well as speed and timeliness. When opening/closing they set themselves as well as the shift after them up for success with the appropriate amount of back ups and line prep. Items on the prep list are finished in a timely manner while still remaining urgent to the customer. Remarkable Line Cooks not o nly crush it on all operational items, serving beautiful plates quickly, but they also actively and graciously coach teammates to bring their skill levels up. Connection & Appreciation Does not communicate welcome to customers through greeting and/or through their personal disposition. Is not consistent with using customers' names for to-go orders. Doesn't thank customers with warmth and/or consistency. Warmly greets every customer upon delivery of their food whether it be ‘togo’ or ‘for here’. Builds connections with our customers by learning and using their names. Endeavors to treat all of our guests with the same care and attention we would devote to our close friends and family. Learns and remembers customers names and can carry on continuing conversations with customers over multiple days. Greets customers when delivering food without fail. Carries their communication of thankfulness to their coworkers. Uses the customers' name when thanking them for coming into our space and ordering food. Customers come in to cafe specifically because of this team member. Line cook shows same amount of care to all customers regardless of their familiarity. Line cook maintains a warm, positive, welcoming & caring disposition with all customers at all times; yes, even with difficult customers. Expresses positivity and gratitude in all interactions. Seeks good for the people around them, and recognizes that progress comes through collaboration. Cleanliness & Organization Struggles to maintain the organization & cleanliness of their station during their shift. Needs reminding to complete daily/weekly cleaning tasks or to proactively bus Kitchen dishes. Does not consistently observe Food Safety expectations such as uniform cleanliness, handwashing, dish washing protocols etc. Consistently maintains the cleanliness and organization of their station. Completes daily and weekly cleaning tasks without reminding, has a great attitude. Busses Kitchen dishes in cafe proactively to support a Clean Space. Observes all Food Safety guidelines and protocols Actively hunts for ways to efficiently improve the cleanliness and organization of kitchen workspaces and customer areas. Proactively guides others to keep a clean space, holds themselves and others to these expectations with care. Observes all Food Safety guidelines and protocols, and coaches these expectations to coworkers. Finds corners that others don't. Working with Urgency & Care Does not start tickets immediately when they are printed, often waits until a task is finished before starting a ticket. Has frequent tickets over 10 minutes on their shifts. Is not able to handle rushes on busy days effectively leading to confusion and tickets over 10 minutes. Does not keep track of hanging and pulling tickets from the printer, often needs direction as to which tickets are finished or are needed. Starts each ticket when it is first printed. Has less than 2 tickets in the red during their shifts per day, and less than 2% per week. Keeps track of tickets by hanging and stabbing appropriately. When on expo, is able to call out tickets as they print thereby helping the grill station stay on track. Has an intimate understanding of timing behind each menu item and is able to prioritize effectively. Is able to control the flow of the kitchen through their station. Usually has, at most, 1 ticket in the red during their shifts. Checks on the customer during their meal to get feedback and offers to take dishes at a regular pace. Has less than 3 tickets in the red per week. Coaches others on the importance of ticket times and how to improve them. Works directly with struggling team members on speed and accuracy with care.

Requirements

  • Team Player, preferred 2+ years experience working on kitchen team or a fast paced environment
  • Skillful in clear, timely communication and working with both urgency and care
  • Ability to multitask effectively and work quickly

  • Desire to never stop learning and provide remarkable care.
  • The Downer Kitchen is open Mon-Sun from 5am - 5pm: minimum availability: 1 week day and 1 weekend shift (shifts are 4 hr minimum)
  • Able to stand and walk for the majority of an 8 hour shift
  • Able to transport up to 50 lbs short distances
  • Able to work with kitchen equipment including but not limited to ovens, knives and stoves safely.
  • Occasional exposure to heat and cool temperatures.
