About The Position

The Line Cook is an essential member of the kitchen team who prepares dishes by following established recipes and cooking guidelines provided by the onsite Food and Beverage leadership and repeatedly producing correctly plated menu items in the established time frames for each. This role involves following recipes, adhering to food safety standards, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.The Line Cook provides exemplary service in a manner consistent with the values and mission of the Castle Group. He or she performs all responsibilities while demonstrating outstanding customer service skills representative of Castle Royal Service.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
  • 6 months to 1-year culinary cooking experience in full-service restaurant
  • Knowledge of best practices for training kitchen staff and implementing kitchen procedures
  • Continuing education will be offered and administered as needed.
  • Ability to follow direction and repeat working actions consistently.
  • Comfortable working with a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with kitchen staff and follow directions from supervisors
  • Ability to work fast, effectively and stay focused under pressure
  • High attention to detail to ensure all dishes, utensils, and equipment are thoroughly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Consistently showing up on time and ready to perform all duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to perform repetitive tasks and stand for extended periods of time.
  • Able to work under pressure, maintain composure and utilize good judgement during emergency/difficult and stressful situations.
  • Ability to o lift up to 40 lbs.; o work in an upright standing or sitting position for long periods of time, may fluctuate. o May handle, finger, grasp and lift objects and packages. o Reach with hands and arms, o communicate, receive and exchange ideas and information. o quickly and easily navigate the property/building as required to meet the job functions; complete all required forms.
  • May be required to travel for training sessions off-site on an ad-hoc basis.
  • May be occasionally required to cover for front desk staff at other communities within a reasonable commuting distance when needed.
  • Ability to work extended hours and weekends based on project requirements.
  • Ability to respond to emergencies and callouts in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare basic components of each dish on our menu using our proven recipes
  • Memorize and utilize our serving portion sizes and all basic meal prep procedures used in the kitchen
  • Work with food and beverage team members to maintain rigid cleaning and organization standards.
  • Monitor product freshness and rotate out old product based on a schedule created by the restaurant
  • Design new menu choices based on seasonal ingredients and customer demand
