The Culinary team at Aldersgate is currently hiring for Full-Time Line Cook's to help support our Gatehouse Dining Venue and Market. We are a creative team that is passionate about using fresh, local, and sustainable products to bring high-quality food to our community. The Line Cook will have a unique opportunity to channel their knowledge, skills, ambition, and experience in a meaningful way that directly impacts the lives of our residents and team members. Schedule/Availability: Full-Time 5:00 a - 1:30 p + Weekends 7:00 a - 3:30 p + Weekends 10:30 a to 8:30 p + Weekends 11:00 a to 7:30 pm + Weekends

Requirements

  • 2 Years of experience in food service operations
  • Knowledge of proper methods and cooking temperatures for best utilization in yield of meats and other foods
  • Ability to time the cooking of vegetables so that their nutritional quality, flavor, and appearance are preserved
  • Ability to accurately estimate quantities of food needed and yields from bulk foods
  • Knowledge of and an appreciation for principles and requirements of sanitation and safety in handling food and equipment
  • Experience preparing and serving meals in an appealing and appetizing manner

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food items, preparation equipment, small wares, plate ware, food ingredients, garnishes and supply items needed for effective operations
  • Maintains the highest degree of sanitation, cleanliness and food safety for work area
  • Follow menus provided, making changes only with the consent of the culinary leadership
  • Plan cooking schedule so that the finished product reaches the consumer at peak quality
  • Work directly with residents, team members, and guests to ensure expectations are being met or exceeded
  • Fulfilling catering orders for events on campus
  • Perform any other duties and/or tasks that may be assigned on an as needed basis by an authorized supervisor
