About The Position

The Horton Grand Hotel is a boutique hotel located in the heart of San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter and is steps away from the Convention Center, restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. When it comes to the workplace, we offer the perfect balance of establishment and progressive, employee-focused initiatives all wrapped in one elegant package. We're looking for a line cook to join our amazing team! This is a PM line cook shift beginning as early as 3pm and finish as late as 11pm. This is a part-time position working an average of 6-24 hours per week.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a line cook in a high volume restaurant
  • Ability to work under pressure and to execute duties without supervision
  • Strong knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen equipment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Attention to detail and a passion for food
  • Availability to work evenings, some weekends and holidays as needed

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with recipes and quality standards
  • Prep and stock stations with necessary ingredients and kitchen equipment
  • Follow proper food handling procedures and safety guidelines including FIFO, labels and
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas, including storage areas and equipment
  • Communicate effectively with kitchen staff and management regarding food orders, inventory and any issues that may arise
  • Able to multitask and work various duties including dishwashing
  • Must be able to aid banquet team with any necessary preparations
