About The Position

The Academy, part of The Fuller Center School is in need of a full-time Cook. The Cook is responsible for providing a delicious and nutritious food program for hundreds of children and staff daily. Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend and be on one’s feet. Must be able to read, and communicate in English. Must obtain Safe Food Handler certification within 60 days of hire and maintain certification ongoing. Must be able to work both independently and within a team. Reports to the Chef but takes directions from other team members as well. Daily Free Lunch Responsibilities Assist the Chef/Food Service Director in the preparation and service of meals. Ensure that all, maintenance request are reported to the Food Service Director and Director of Operations. Become familiar with, and prepare food in compliance with, the USDA Food Program meal pattern requirements. Assist in record-keeping required by the USDA Food Program. Maintain standards of order and cleanliness daily in the kitchen and storage areas in compliance with Health Department standards. Ensure that the kitchen remains clean and free of clutter for monthly inspection with Food Service Director. Learn and assist in procedure for weekly food and supply orders. Receive, inspect and properly store food and supplies which are delivered to the site. Assist in ensuring that no food or kitchen items are taken from the kitchen or storage room for any purpose other than feeding the children and staff. Learn and assume duties of other team members in his/her absence. Responsible for “workspace” - safety, cleanliness, upkeep daily. Must be able to frequently lift and carry items and containers that may weigh as much as 50 lbs. Communicate appropriately and effectively in both nonverbal and verbal styles with all children, co-workers and guests. Positively represent Florence Fuller Child Development Center to the public at large and to each visitor at the Center. Is able to legibly, accurately and thoroughly complete all documentation. Apply acquired knowledge and techniques from training in all work efforts. Serv Safe Certification (or comparable). Other duties as assigned.
