About The Position

Prestigious Serrano Country Club is now accepting applications for talented, experienced line cooks. The qualified applicant will have two to three years' experience in all facets of fine dining cuisine. Must be a self-starter, a team player, able to work under pressure and maintain a professional demeanor. Preparation of a quality product and commitment to consistency are crucial. Able to offer menu ideas and to think independently strongly desired. This is a full-time position. 2 weeks vacation, 8 sick days and 8 paid holidays. Eligible for Medical, Dental, Vision and Life insurance 60 days from date of hire. 401 (k) is available after one year of service with 4% employer match. Golf privileges and complimentary meals. You will need a Food Handler Certificate within 30 days of hire. Interviews will be scheduled with qualified applicants. SUMMARY Prepare and set up of station. Assists Chef in set up and cooking of meals as needed. Prepares food in accordance with club recipes and standards. Clean up station and food service line. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned whether or not in this job description, at any time, by the Executive Chef or designee. Supports the goals and objectives of the Company and in accordance with the Company's commitment to Total Customer Satisfaction, must have professional, service oriented attitude at all times. Follows safe work practices at all times. Must adhere to schedule, report to work on time, well groomed and wearing a clean uniform. Prepares meats, seafoods, vegetables and other items required for line and special function purposes; Assists Chef with preparation of other food products on serving line as needed. Carefully follows standard recipes when pre-preparing and preparing all items. Uses food preparation equipment according to manufacturers' instructions. Cook food when ordered. Consistently uses safe and sanitary food handling practices: keeps work station clean at all times. Covers, wraps, and returns all unused food products to proper storage areas. Returns soiled food preparation utensils and other small ware items to the proper areas. Assists with sweeping and mopping kitchen floors when needed.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and 2 or more years experience as a line cook.
  • Knowledge of commercial restaurant equipment and kitchen tools.
  • Valid California driver's license.
  • You will need a Food Handler Certificate within 30 days of hire.
  • Must be able to work extended hours, to include weekends and holidays as necessary.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee also must frequently lift, balance, carry, and/or move up to 70 pounds.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must be able to talk and hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee must be able to transport oneself throughout the project site including but not limited to the golf course, pro shop, restaurant/lounge, and other community areas.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to remain focused, work constructively, effectively and cheerfully in an environment that may be stressful due to adversarial situations.
  • Must be mentally alert, aware and safety conscious at all times.
  • The employee may be required to participate in more than one assignment at a time with frequent interruptions, changes, and delays.
  • Must be able to work in a well-lighted temperature controlled area sufficient in size to allow freedom of movement to accomplish tasks.
  • Must be able to adapt to the climate with marked changes in temperature from heat in the kitchen area to the cold or refrigerated areas.
