About The Position

The American Airlines Center is a multi-purpose indoor arena located in downtown Dallas, Texas. The arena serves as the home of the Dallas Stars of the NHL and Dallas Mavericks of the NBA. We are hiring energetic and skilled Action Station Cooks to bring excitement and flair to our Chef Tables and Buffet experiences for our dynamic Culinary teams. This guest-facing role is responsible for preparing and serving made-to-order dishes at live action stations (e.g., pasta, omelets, tacos, stir fry, bao buns, etc.), engaging with guests, and ensuring an exceptional culinary experience. Ideal candidates thrive in high-energy environments, have great cooking skills, and can deliver hospitality with a smile.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1–2 years of cooking experience in a high-volume kitchen, banquet-style, catering, or fine-dining (stadium, arena, or event venue experience a plus).
  • Valid ServSafe or state-approved Food Handler's certification.
  • Knowledge of various cooking techniques, including grilling, sautéing, frying, and roasting.
  • Strong cooking skills with knowledge of various cuisines and live station formats.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays according to event schedules.
  • Excellent customer service, organization, and time management.
  • Ability to speak, read, and write in English.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook fresh, made-to-order items at live buffet action stations.
  • Provide friendly, professional interaction with guests while cooking and serving.
  • Ensure consistent portioning, presentation, and quality standards.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area throughout service.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and equipment protocols.
  • Assist with setup, breakdown, and restocking of action stations.
  • Communicate effectively with front-of-house staff and culinary leadership to ensure smooth service flow.
  • Support the culinary team with prep work and kitchen tasks as needed.
