Overview Advanced Technologies and Laboratories (ATL), a Planned Systems International (PSI) company, is hiring for a Information Management System (LIMS) Scientist I in Richland, WA. This position will support Navarro-ATL. Navarro-ATL is located in Richland, WA and operates, manages, and maintains the 222-S Laboratory Complex for the Department of Energy. Navarro-ATL members are Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. (Oak Ridge, TN), and Advanced Technologies and Laboratories International (Gaithersburg, MD). Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities The Lab IT group is responsible for providing a functional Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and analytical IT needs. The LIMS Scientist incorporates conventional engineering or scientific practices and a variety of complex features such as laboratory technical requirements and application of new or special materials or processes into problem solving and program planning. They conduct work site/area visits, analyze scientific problems, propose solutions and alternatives, and provide recommendations. The LIMS Scientist verifies and ensures compliance with scientific documentation standards and test procedures. Additional duties may involve purchasing software, tracking equipment installation location, planning software patching and upgrades, and creation of software management plans, user acceptance tests, and requirements traceability matrix. Under general supervision: Provide technical advice and support for design and configuration of a new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Provide technical support for maintaining/troubleshooting the legacy LIMS. Train users on the LIMS system. Provide technical advice and support for maintaining and troubleshooting other Laboratory IT needs Assist and troubleshoot issues with data transfer between the Laboratory instruments and the LIMS, including issues with the electronic transfer of files between the instrument subnet and the general Local Area Network. Assist and document user acceptance tests on the 222-S Laboratory systems. Assist 222-S Laboratory organizations in creation and maintenance of databases required for 222-S Laboratory operations. Assist 222-S Laboratory functions in the creation and maintenance of Hanford Local Area Network shared network areas. The candidate will interface with chemists, line managers, vendors, and occasionally with clients.
