The Role A LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) Architect designs, implements, and maintains complex LIMS solutions, acting as a bridge between lab operations and IT, focusing on system integration (ERP, instruments), configuration, compliance (GxP), data integrity, and strategic road mapping, often using platforms like StarLIMS or LabWare, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical best practices for pharma/biopharma sectors.

Requirements

  • Deep knowledge of LIMS software (StarLIMS, LabWare, etc.) and lab processes.
  • 10 years experience with system integrations, APIs (REST/SOAP), databases (SQL), and cloud platforms is preferred
  • Strong understanding of GxP, validation, data integrity, and regulatory requirements.
  • Technical documentation (flow diagrams, UML) and system architecture skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; certifications (ITIL, TOGAF) are a plus.

Nice To Haves

  • The Open Group - Master Certified Architect (or equivalent)
  • Prior hands-on experience working in a Mainframe environment
  • Experience in the following types of Mainframe projects – Modernise On, Integrate With and Move Off
  • Strong understanding of z/OS and IBM Software Products as well as 3rd party Mainframe software

Responsibilities

  • Design & Strategy: Define LIMS architecture, technical roadmaps, and integration strategies (APIs, middleware) for scalable, compliant systems.
  • Implementation: Configure, customize, and oversee deployment of LIMS (e.g., StarLIMS, LabWare) and integrate instruments/other systems.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with lab users, IT, and business leaders to translate needs into technical solutions.
  • Compliance & Governance: Ensure adherence to regulatory standards (GxP) and internal IT policies, managing technical debt and system integrity.
  • Technical Leadership: Provide guidance, mentor teams, manage documentation, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Support & Training: Oversee L3 support, problem management, and conduct user training.
