The LIMS Administrator is responsible for the configuration and maintenance of the State Hygienic Laboratory’s (SHL) Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) that manages and supports the workflows of the SHL’s laboratory operations by codifying workflows, documenting the life-cycle of every sample that passes through the laboratory, providing insights to customers and laboratory staff through data analysis and visualization, and ensuring that all operations are compliant with applicable laws and regulations. The LIMS Administrator’s job duties include working with SHL staff to configure new tests in the LIMS, coordinating the workflow of new test creations through the SHL’s IT workgroups, meeting with internal and external stakeholders to explore improvements to the SHL’s LIMS, translating user requests into technical specifications with estimated effort required, ensures that technical documentation is current and accurate as the system changes over time so that it may be used to create training materials, documenting and validating changes to the LIMS through using standardized and complete testing, configuration and testing of interfaces between the LIMS and laboratory instruments, development of reports based on client requirements, development and maintenance of scripts to automate routine tasks, and integrating the LIMS with other systems.
