Our Digital Retail team, Lamps.com , serves homeowners, interior designers, and trade professionals seeking design inspiration and a resourceful lighting partner. Our distribution- and project-focused team, Illuminate , partners with architects, developers, contractors, and national brands to create meaningful experiences through lighting in commercial and residential spaces. From e-commerce to large-scale projects, we understand and appreciate the impact lighting has on a great design. The Role To be successful in this role, you will be a proactive, trusted leader who anticipates challenges before they escalate, whether onsite, with manufacturers, or across complex project teams. You will lead difficult conversations, bringing clarity and alignment across disciplines to keep projects moving forward. Partnering closely with internal and external teams—including design, sales, logistics, architects, engineers, manufacturers, and installation partners—you will own project execution from start to finish. By balancing accountability with collaboration, you will uncover critical details beyond what standard documentation captures and navigate competing priorities with confidence. Your ability to negotiate effectively, communicate clearly, and manage projects across quoting, order management, cost control, stakeholder communication, and closeout will enable precise, efficient project delivery with a lasting impact. This is a Remote role, but candidates must be based within 25 miles of San Diego, CA , with the ability to travel to an office at least 1x per month and for any required in-person meetings. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in Construction Management, Architecture, or Engineering, and/or Design experience.
  • Organized and proficient at managing workload and prioritization of activities
  • Exceptional attention to detail, with a demonstrated ability to problem solve both proactively and reactively
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, fostering strong collaboration with clients and team members
  • Experience in client-facing operations, vendor management, client relations, and customer service
  • Demonstrated competence and professionalism when dealing with various levels of internal and external partners
  • Strong ability to handle escalation of issues from client to manager

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or equivalent)
  • Expert user experience in Bluebeam Revu, Google Workplace Suite
  • Strong knowledge and ability to read and interpret architectural plans

Responsibilities

  • Client Relationship Management Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, acting as the primary point of contact throughout the project delivery lifecycle
  • Proactively engage with clients, fostering strong relationships through clear communication, timely follow-ups, and a solutions-oriented approach to project needs.
  • Identify and relay potential business opportunities, sharing insights on new relationships or project leads with the Business Development team to support growth initiatives.
  • Attend industry and networking events to stay abreast to new products and develop relationships for clients
  • Project Planning, Coordination, and Order Management Review a construction schedule to collaborate with the client to identify project requirements, including functional and aesthetic goals, budget constraints, and timelines
  • Oversee and support project coordinators in managing project schedules, submittals, SSR/PSR, etc., to ensure deadlines are met for delivery and installation
  • Oversee Order Management led by project coordinators Hold For Release Purchase Order for Shop drawing coordination
  • Coordinate with internal business development and quotes team in the transition from notice to proceed to project delivery and execution
  • Communicate with external stakeholders in the ecosystem, such as owners, architects, designers, engineers, general contractors, electrical contractors, and other trades, to ensure successful project completion
  • Become proficient in and utilize Illuminate's established systems and technology to work efficiently and to the highest standards
  • Ensure effective internal team communication flow between business development, project coordinators, and the logistics team
  • This role has formal or informal supervisory responsibilities of a Project Coordinator
  • Review and finalize submittal packages for client approval and record-keeping
  • Project financial management, including P&L oversight, tracking customer payments, and monitoring project budgets to prevent cost overruns and ensure profitability
  • Ensure effective and efficient project closeout, including providing documentation to the owner, and expeditious and accurate financial project closeout
  • Conduct project retrospectives, analyzing manufacturer performance, financials, and time allocation to identify key learnings and recommend improvements for future projects and client engagements.
  • Provide guidance on product selection, offering alternative solutions to meet project specifications effectively
  • Issue Resolution and Problem Solving Proactively identify potential challenges during quoting, ordering, delivery, and installation phases
  • Develop and implement solutions to resolve project issues efficiently, minimizing delays and maintaining client satisfaction
  • Proactively manage and communicate punch list resolutions, working closely with the project coordinator to address issues efficiently while keeping clients informed and ensuring a smooth project closeout
  • Delivery & Installation Support Facilitate communication with installation personnel (general contractors, electrical contractors) to ensure proper understanding of the products delivered and provide troubleshooting and guidance when issues arise
  • Partner with the warehouse team on project logistics and product readiness
