About The Position

The Lighting Specialist manages lighting projects for customers and prospective customers, and processes orders for materials or merchandise.

Requirements

  • Technical degree or course work demonstrating an understanding of engineering or architectural drawings and specifications preferred. High school diploma required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Two plus years in the lighting market preferred.
  • High degree of knowledge of electrical distribution operations and/or similar product knowledge; two or more years of experience in operations, counter sales or in the electrical distribution industry required.
  • Proven skills in communication, both written and oral.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and complete tasks at own initiative with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer skills with MS Office products required.
  • Thorough knowledge of McNaughton-McKay’s business systems required.

Responsibilities

  • Quotes all aspects of lighting and lamps (i.e. job quotes & print take-off, design/build, customer specified lighting projects).
  • Processes customer orders, changes and cancellations as received via telephone, facsimile, mail, customer or company employee.
  • Determines, communicates and documents:
  • pricing (including discount, sales representative’s commission, shipping charges, etc.)
  • delivery date
  • shipping instructions or restrictions
  • anticipated delays, if any
  • any additional information requested
  • Provides customers with pricing and stock information as requested.
  • Responds to customer quotation requests by providing information on price and delivery.
  • Conducts delivery status follow-up by expediting or tracing missing or delayed shipments.
  • Provides customers with basic technical support.
  • Acts as liaison between customer and other McNaughton-McKay activities.
  • Attempts to sell additional merchandise to customer.
  • Creates, implements, and revises procedures and instructions.
  • Reviews engineering and architectural drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with plans and schedules.
