BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! is NYC’s longest-running, free performance festival, and a beloved summer tradition featuring approximately 25 varied large-scale performances and attracting upwards of 200,000 people each summer to the Prospect Park Bandshell. About the Lighting Intern Role: The purpose of this internship is to provide support to the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn! production team throughout a summer of performing arts programming at the Lena Horne Bandshell in Prospect Park. The team is committed to high-level production values and safety, and the Production Intern is expected to contribute to a positive artist, audience, and co-worker experience. Educational Benefits: The Lighting intern will learn to operate production equipment in a live setting, gain insight into the day-to-day lighting and production operations of a performing arts festival, and expand on the Intern’s academic studies through practical experience in a professional environment.

Requirements

  • Mission & Values Alignment : A passion for BRIC’s support of the arts in Brooklyn and a deep commitment to building community, igniting learning and making change through the arts and creativity.
  • Rising college senior or recent graduate from a theater/entertainment technology program preferred.
  • Candidates must be reliable, committed, willing to work the entire summer production schedule, self-motivated, and possess strong interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to Equity & Inclusion : Brings experience operationalizing equity within the Performing Arts and or Hospitality function.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience working in production for live events is preferred.
  • We are looking for someone full of energy who is willing to learn and do whatever it takes to get the job done!
  • The Production Intern will be very hands-on and an organized self-starter which will take part in making the BRIC Celebrate Brooklyn come to life.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with the Production Coordinator, Technical Director, Stage Manager, Lighting Director, Audio Engineers and other staff.
  • Coordinate and implement lighting technical needs.
  • Operate production lighting equipment during shows.
  • Assist with hang and focus of lights.
  • Assist with artist load-in.
  • Help to coordinate artists’ lighting and/or video requirements.
  • Assist BRIC electrician leads/team with lighting focus, circuiting and troubleshooting electrical problems with lighting grid.
  • Act as follow-spot operator during show.
  • Create and log applicable reports (wrap-up, event overviews, etc) for BCB leads.
