About The Position

The Entry-Level Lighting Designer will support the development and implementation of innovative, sustainable, and visually compelling lighting solutions for a variety of architectural and engineering projects. Working under the guidance of senior designers and project managers, this individual will assist in the design, documentation, and coordination of lighting systems that enhance the built environment while meeting technical, aesthetic, and energy performance requirements.

Requirements

  • BA or BFA Degree in lighting design, theatrical/entertainment lighting design or related field.
  • 0-2 years of related work experience.
  • Proficiency in Revit, and good knowledge of industry software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Enthusiastic commitment to the multidisciplinary design process and team environment.
  • Active and clear driver's license, including a successful clearance of a Motor Vehicle history check.

Responsibilities

  • Under the direction of a Senior Lighting Designer, assist in the design and development of building lighting systems for various project types, including commercial, institutional, and architectural spaces.
  • Assist in the development appropriate system concepts and design strategies that align with project requirements, energy codes, design intent, photometric calculations, lighting layouts, luminaire selections, and preparation of lighting specifications.
  • Coordinate lighting design efforts with other disciplines, including architectural, electrical, and mechanical teams, to ensure seamless system integration.
  • Produce accurate and detailed Lighting Construction Documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD in accordance with company and industry standards.
  • Conduct site visits to evaluate existing lighting systems, document field conditions, and inspect lighting installations during construction and upon completion.
  • Apply and adhere to internal quality assurance procedures, relevant legislation, and current industry standards in all design activities.
  • Maintain a high level of professional and technical competence by pursuing continuous professional development and staying informed of advancements in lighting technology, controls, and sustainable design practices.
  • Work in a safe and responsible manner always, in compliance with company health and safety policies, and promptly report any incidents or safety concerns.
  • Perform additional duties and support project teams as required to meet departmental and organizational goals.
