The Lighting Board Operator will be responsible for assisting the Lighting Director in programming and managing the lighting console for a state-of-the-art news set in Durham, NC. This entry-level position involves collaboration with the team to ensure effective lighting control and programming for studio areas.

  • Assist LD with assigning fixture numbers and LED addresses (in console and on paper)
  • Work with the LD and WTVD regarding the best way to control groups of fixtures in all studio areas
  • Assist in the Creation of 'Magic Sheets' for all studio set areas, and instruct WTVD in their use
  • Programming the lighting console, including managing control signal distribution throughout the studio, and relay panels or dimmer racks
  • Ability to create DMX fixture profiles in the lighting console as needed
  • Assist LD and WTVD on creating color pre-sets and Program LED set lighting per WTVD preference
  • Train WTVD on the operation of the console
  • Entry-level experience in lighting operations or related field
  • Familiarity with lighting consoles and DMX programming
  • Basic understanding of lighting design and control systems
  • Experience with studio lighting setups
