About The Position

A Light Equipment Specialist is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repair, and maintenance of various types of machines and attachments with a focus on quality and efficiency. This role requires a high level of technical expertise and a strong commitment to very high safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a Light or Heavy Equipment Technician.
  • Extensive knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems in heavy machinery.
  • Must have and maintain a standard set of Mechanics tooling including up to ¾ drive.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
  • At least 1 year of Caterpillar experience repairing machines.
  • You must be willing to work in other departments when necessary to care of the customers’ needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school or technical education in heavy equipment repair is a plus.
  • Knowledge of Caterpillar software and programs a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while working on site to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and others.
  • Perform work with efficiency and within dealership flat rate guidelines.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as PM Services, filter replacements, tire checks, and fluid checks.
  • Replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic pumps and lines, cylinders and a variety of other components.
  • Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on equipment such as Skid Steers, Excavators, loaders, bulldozers, telehandlers and backhoes.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment to test and troubleshoot complex machinery operations and malfunctions.
  • Repair or replace parts such as engines, transmissions, hydraulic systems, and undercarriage components.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace in accordance with Caterpillar’s Contamination Control Guidelines and ensure tools and equipment are maintained and stored properly
  • Read and interpret technical manuals and schematics in SIS to support repair work.
  • Provide technical advice and support to other technicians on proper equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Ensure that machines are repaired according to Caterpillar standards.
  • Keep detailed records of all maintenance, repairs, and services performed on equipment by utilizing Cat Interact and write accurate and detailed service reports.
  • Attend all hands-on training and attend relevant technical classes to further develop your skills & knowledge.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
