Where You Will Work Chino is an open-pit copper mining complex located 15 miles from the historic mining community of Silver City in southwestern New Mexico. The historic Chino mine was among the world's first low-grade, open-pit copper mines. Description Highly skilled mechanic who safely perform diagnostic, maintenance, and repair of light duty vehicles and equipment which may include quarter to one ton pickup trucks, skid steers, fork lifts, boom trucks, lube trucks or other light duty equipment.

Requirements

Two (2) years ofexperience in light duty mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
Knowledge of general to advanced electrical
Ability to read schematics
Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Responsibilities

Performs diagnostic, replacement and repairs on, but not limited to: Engines, transmissions and transaxles, manual drive train and axles, suspension, steering, brakes, clutches, AC units and electric motors
Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed
Performs mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance to include: Oil and lube service, coolant system flush, transmissions services, filter and gasket checks, checking of water pumps, thermostats, belts, radiator hoses and clutch fans
Train and mentor other employees
Perform welding, such as: carbon arc, and Mig
May operate equipment such as: forklifts, cranes, and small mobile equipment
Act as a Fill-in Supervisor as needed
Responsible for maintaining work orders, a clean and safe work area and performing work area inspections
Perform other duties as required
