About The Position

Join Silgan Closures, America’s largest metal food packaging producer, as a Maintenance Specialist in Evansville, IN. We’re looking for skilled maintenance specialists to install, maintain, repair, and remove production equipment, conveyor systems, ovens, and air compressors, and to maintain the facility building and grounds. Unload trucks of material such as drums, coils, etc. as needed Arrange metal in warehouse, storage areas and production areas as needed Perform daily maintenance inspection of lift truck Keep assigned work area neat and clean Relieve as required Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor Handle hazardous waste according to proper procedures as outlined in the Hazardous Waste Management Bulletins including identification, collection, segregation, handling and storage of waste. Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain fork truck certification
  • Must be able to constantly lift up to 20 pounds and regularly lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted
  • Must be able to push and pull carts and demonstrate rapid mental and muscular coordination

Responsibilities

  • Drive and operate lift truck (maintain valid driver’s license and pass required lift truck operator testing)
  • Deliver specified material and position skids of tin plate onto conveyors beside machines or directly onto equipment such as waxer, scrolls, etc.
  • Dump scrap tubs.
  • Unload trucks of material such as drums, coils, etc. as needed
  • Arrange metal in warehouse, storage areas and production areas as needed
  • Perform daily maintenance inspection of lift truck
  • Keep assigned work area neat and clean
  • Relieve as required
  • Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor
  • Handle hazardous waste according to proper procedures as outlined in the Hazardous Waste Management Bulletins including identification, collection, segregation, handling and storage of waste.
