About The Position

Are you someone who has a background working with electrical and pumps? Do you have experience in installing, and providing maintenance, or enjoy troubleshooting equipment? We are looking for a Lift Station Technician for Sarasota County. As a Skilled Trades Worker II, you will install, replace, repair, and modify mechanical and electrical equipment located on and within Public Utilities facilities, including, but not limited to, pumps, pump valves, regulators, actuators, control panels, communication systems, motor controls, electronic filtering, and switching systems. You will document and maintain work orders, parts inventory, and safety records. Proficiency in the operation of an electric multimeter, voltmeter, and megohmmeter, battery operator tools, hand tools, chainsaws, and other gas-powered equipment is required. You will also operate crane trucks to remove and install pumps from wet wells and other lift station maintenance activities. As a Skilled Trades Worker III, you will provide technical guidance, training, and mentorship to Skilled Trades Workers II.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent.
  • Three (3) years of experience in applicable trades for Skilled Trades Worker II.
  • Six (6) years of experience in applicable trades for Skilled Trades Worker III.
  • Experience in the water/wastewater collection field.
  • Experience performing pump, valve, or hydraulic system repair and maintenance.
  • Ability to acquire a Class 'A' CDL with air brake endorsement within six (6) months of hire.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License at the time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Install, replace, repair, and modify mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Document and maintain work orders, parts inventory, and safety records.
  • Operate electric multimeter, voltmeter, and megohmmeter.
  • Use battery operator tools, hand tools, chainsaws, and other gas-powered equipment.
  • Operate crane trucks for pump removal and installation.
  • Read and follow color codes, wiring diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and written instructions.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to Skilled Trades Workers II.
