Under general supervision of Wastewater Supervisor, this position performs a variety of semi-skilled tasks in the service and maintenance of pumps, motors and auxiliary equipment in sewer lift stations in the wastewater collection system. This position will be required to work shifts including evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime as necessary by the department and during inclement weather. This position is considered weather essential personnel. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Assists in the inspection, repair and/or replacing of pumps, motors, piping and electrical control equipment within the lift stations. Removes debris from clogged pumps, repacks pumps, works on various electrical control devices. Wears safety equipment, including a safety harness, breathing mask, hard hat, etc. Cleans wet wells, which requires going into wet side of lift station and removing debris. Performs scope of responsibilities safely, following departmental safety guidelines. Calculates capacities of pumps, operates flow meters and gas detectors. Maintains all vehicles and equipment in clean and good working condition. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Requires a High School Diploma or its equivalent (GED) and a minimum of two (2) years of experience in maintenance and construction work on sewer system. Experience in pump and/or motor maintenance preferred.
