About The Position

As a member of the largest lift operations team in the East, the Team Lead acts as an on-hill facilitator and is responsible for the daily operation of the lifts in their assigned area or areas. Team Leaders provide direction, instructions, and guidance to ensure a presentable, safe, and reliable operation to a team of 15-45 Lift Operators on any given day. The right candidate will possess excellent guest service skills and a passion for the mountains. You must be reliable and prepared to stand and work outdoors for long periods of time in all types of weather. You must also be able to adapt to changing conditions and business levels with ease and have the ability to work independently and communicate effectively as a member of a large team. The Lift Operations Team Leader will report to the Lift Operations Supervisors and Manager and directly oversee Lift Operators, Ticket Checkers, Tubing Attendants, Maze Attendants, and Summer Operations Attendants.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Valid Driver’s license required for operations of snowmobile and ATV/UTV
  • At least one year of relevant ski area operations experience preferred or a combination of education and experience from which is comparable knowledge
  • Understanding of Microsoft Office Programs
  • Excellent administrative and supervisory skills are required as well as the ability to deal effectively with a variety of individuals inside and outside the company
  • Excellent attitude, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently with little supervision at times
  • Must be able to handle emergency situations effectively
  • Superior guest service experience required
  • Excellent language skills and reasoning ability. The Lift Operations Team Leader will assist in training staff from all over the world, having the ability to speak a second language is preferred
  • Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Must be able to lift, pull or push up to 75lbs repeatedly throughout the day
  • Intermediate Ski/Ride ability required; Advanced Ski/Ride ability preferred
  • Basic understanding of the use of power tools; advanced understanding preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operation of assigned area or areas
  • Ensure lifts are operating in compliance with ANSI B.77, Vermont Passenger Tramway, and all KPSRP standards, rules, and regulations
  • Identify and address issues in a timely manner as they pertain to ANSI B.77, VOSHA, VPT, and KPSRP standards
  • Assist Lift Operators, Ticket Checkers and Tubing Attendants with pre and post procedures to ensure a consistently presentable, safe, and reliable operation
  • Responsible for the training of staff daily
  • Responsible for the coaching and leading of staff including the implementation of corrective plans for staff
  • Responsible for the presentation of Safety and Service topics in assigned area or areas
  • Responsible for assisting the Lift Operations Supervisors and Manager in collecting information needed for the completion of Lift Incident Reports and Vermont Tramway Reports
  • Assist the Lift Operations Supervisors and Manager with providing information needed to assign staff to suitable positions
  • Responsible for the collection and completion of daily lift reports and supervisor reports
  • Provide the Lift Operations Supervisor and Manager with identifying grooming requests for safe operations
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Aid the Lift Operations Supervisors and Manager in the construction of Summer Attractions
  • Aid the Lift Operations Supervisors and Manager in the seasonal change of chair lifts, this may include carpentry work and installing bike racks with use of power tools
  • Understanding the daily operations of scheduled summer operating lifts and numerous summer attractions in the Adventure Center
  • Assist Lift Operators and Summer Attendants with pre and post operations for lifts and summer attractions
  • Responsible for training staff on chairlift operation and loading and unloading mountain bikes in a safe and efficient manner
  • Responsible for training staff on all Summer Adventure Center Attractions such as the Beast Mountain Coaster, Soaring Eagle, Zip Line, Ropes Course, and Bungee Jump
  • Responsible for working with other Team Leaders to ensure Daily Lift Reports for lifts and summer attractions are collected and compiled into Supervisor Reports and submitted weekly
  • Lift Operations Team Leaders have significant direct customer contact on a daily basis. The Lift Operations Team Leader is responsible for ensuring that all staff in assigned areas have constant positive customer service and interactions. It is expected that all staff will be courteous and professional to provide superior customer service that is expected.
