About The Position

The Lift Mechanic at Jay Peak is responsible for the maintenance and repair of lift equipment throughout the year, ensuring safe and efficient operation. This role involves performing daily checks, training junior mechanics, and conducting repairs in various weather conditions. The position requires a commitment to safety and teamwork, with opportunities for career development through the Lift Maintenance Apprenticeship Program.

Requirements

  • One year certificate from college or technical school; or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, weights, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade Certified Tramway Technician Certificate or willingness to obtain it.
  • Ability to work well with co-workers and other departments.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with guests.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains and repairs lift equipment to ensure efficient, safe operation.
  • Performs daily checks in winter at the direction of the Lift Maintenance Supervisor/Manager.
  • Verifies wind strength at the top of lifts and advises the supervisor on operational decisions.
  • Checks assigned machinery locations in readiness for operation as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Starts lift machinery, checking for abnormal sounds and oil levels, marking items off on the daily log sheet.
  • Ensures all lifts are turned off at the end of the day.
  • Performs repairs or maintenance as recorded by Lift Operators.
  • Works at heights to manipulate switches and perform repairs, climbing towers in all weather.
  • Lifts heavy objects, such as chairs, and wears appropriate PPE as necessary.
  • Cleans lift buildings and performs summer maintenance on lift equipment and buildings.
  • Repairs and replaces broken chairs and performs line inspections of line equipment.
