About The Position
Join our team of dedicated Lifeguards and help create a fun, safe aquatics environment: CHANGE LIVES. INCLUDING YOURS. As a Lifeguard at our YMCA, you will have the opportunity to serve as a leader, assure swimmer safety and create a positive aquatics atmosphere for pool users. Thea Alme, Lifeguard & Swim Instructor said, "I love my job because I have the opportunity to teach people how to be safe & confident in & around the water! Being able to get to know all the lovely people that come to exercise in the mornings has been a wonderful start to each of my days!" The First International Bank & Trust Family Splash Center at the YMCA opened in April 2019. The warm water, renovated pool will offer water slides and play features, swim lessons, fitness classes and lap swim, therapeutic jets for hydro therapy, and Birthday Party program & space. We are proud recipients of the Prairie Business Magazine 50 Best Places to Work award from 2018 to 2025, which recognizes ND, SD and MN employers who are nominated by their employees.
Requirements
- Must demonstrate the ability to maintain certification-level of physical and mental readiness
- Must demonstrate lifeguard skills in accordance with YMCA standards
- Open to candidates ages 15 and older
Nice To Haves
- Current Red Cross Lifeguard Certification
- Lifeguard experience
Responsibilities
- Ensuring safety in and around the pool area
- Responding appropriately to emergencies
- Maintaining a clean, safe pool area
- Communicating appropriately with parents, participants and members
